How to lose weight without going to a spin class!

How to lose weight without going to a spin class

Having the right motivation is everything.

Some people are driven by reward or fear.

I have a young lady client who hates the spin bike in the studio.

Every time I ask her to get on the bike, she tells me how much the seat is uncomfortable and it hurts her bottom! (Anyone who has tried spin knows where she's coming from!)

So, I've set her a challenge.... I have set a challenging, but achievable weight loss goal.

If she doesn't achieve this goal, we are going to a FULL spin class - (Her idea of hell!)

She told me that she is driven by the pain factor of doing something she hates - In this case, a spin class.

So, what this has got to do with losing weight without going to a spin class?

She's going to have to work her butt off even more in the next two weeks to achieve her weight loss goal, which I've set her, in order to avoid the dreaded spin class.

This has motivated her to really focus on her eating and to ramp it up in the sessions - and also to do more extra classes and fitness.

So, sometimes, we need to almost scare ourselves a little to achieve great things.

If you know me, or have been to one of my classes or sessions, you know that I'm not a scary person and don't like to shout at clients, as I don't think this achieves anything... However...

Having that 'fear factor' - a forfeit of doing something you dread (Spin classes, eating carrots, whatever), will motivate you more than just setting goals without any consequences IF you don't make the grade!

You will respond differently to reward or fear - If the reward doesn't work, try the fear factor. it does really work!

** UPDATE **

With just under 1 week to go until the final weigh in, she has ALREADY LOST ALMOST DOUBLE HER ORIGINAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL!

So at this moment in time, she doesn't have to go to the spin class!!

HOW??

She hasn't starved herself. She's been eating regular meals, drinking lots of water and working out regularly.

The difference??? MINDSET!

Her goal has changed from reward to the fear factor.

So, she has less than a week to maintain this weight loss or lose even more. Amazing work!

I best cancel that spin class ;)

Need help and motivation??
